Explore the World of Truth Telling

Fact or Fiction Life Myths

I heard and believed this for decades. That is a myth; it’s false! The old-school poser mindset, fake it till you make it concept is DEAD!

In the age of social media, it’s easy for people to cross-check who you are, what you believe, and how you live in your private or not-so-private life, so why pretend you’re not who you are? Do you think just building an online business will hide who you are?

240 weeks ago, as my world was falling apart, I realized what HAD fallen apart was me! I was a poser living as if I had it all together, both inside and out. Sure, I achieved what most would say was successful. I overcame two bankruptcies and now own real estate and several vehicles, live on an island, and have plenty of investments. I spoke on stage with some of the most recognized names in business, and yet inside, I was empty, and my relationship with my wife and the kids was at its lowest.

So, What Happened?

I Discovered My True Identity! It was that simple! Where it got tricky was realizing I had been living in a false identity for decades.

Sitting in the woods, by the beach, the Holy Spirit (I know some of you will want to stop reading, don’t! Just realize this is my story, you’re a little different.) gave me a realization I had never thought of before. It was like He was talking directly to me. My dear friend and mentor Kody Bateman calls these Promptings.

I heard these words as I looked at a caterpillar cocoon – “Troy, it’s not about change, it’s about transformation!” I had become a master of change, like a chameleon, constantly changing back into my selfish, prideful, false identity after the danger, fear, shame, or rejection had passed. But to climb out of the hole I had dug for myself, I would need to transform like a caterpillar into a butterfly; there would be no going back!

I knew I would never be able to do it on my own! I read the Bible verse, “The same power that raised Christ from the dead is inside of you. Romans 8:11.” I realized I couldn’t do it alone!

Today, I’m still on this journey, but over the last 171 weeks, My Lord brought into my life a handful of men who, just like me, were on this journey, just further along. They don’t blow smoke at me, make me feel good, pat me on the back, or tell me I made it! Nope, they hold me accountable at all times – true brothers!

Don’t pretend you’re something you’re not. Don’t live in a false identity where you keep falling short. Don’t be a poser; be the True YOU! It’s never too late! Let’s start if you want your business to grow and your team to trust you.
